L.A. vintage dealer and world traveler Cameron Silver touched down in Hong Kong for Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel couture presentation last Friday. While he was in town, he teamed up with photographer Gerhard Joren to snap the city's best-dressed women. At the show and in the shopping district SoHo, he discovered poised, polished locals and some fellow visitors who didn't shy away from big-time label dropping. Those not sporting major designers—Chanel, Dior, and Gucci—wore one-of-a-kind pieces by private dressmakers. And for occasions when your average everyday made-to-order gown doesn't cut it? That's where Lagerfeld and his petite mains come in. At the airport on his way to New Zealand for a photo shoot, Silver met one young woman who had ordered three haute couture Chanel pieces. "The ladies take their fashion very seriously in Hong Kong," he said.
