If all you left Art Basel Miami Beach with was a hangover, you must've
missed graphic designer and wordsmith Stefan Sagmeister's book party. Too bad. In
celebration of his new tome, Things I Have Learned in My Life So Far,
the venue was decorated with a few of his illustrated maxims: The swizzle
sticks in the drinks, for example, read "Low Expectations Are a Good Strategy." But the archest message came at the exit, where guests were given a custom-made Kate Spade tote adorned with a dictum seemingly at odds with the setting: "Material Luxuries Are Best Enjoyed in Small Doses."
