Irvingpenn

From the supremely elegant fashion photos he took of his wife, Lisa Fonssagrives, to his dramatic portraits of luminaries such as Georgia O’Keeffe and Martha Graham, Irving Penn has created some of the most memorable images of the last seven decades. To mark his 90th birthday this month, the Aplanat Galerie für Fotografie in Hamburg has commissioned an exhibition and book of 42 photographs from both established and new photographers, all shot in the Penn style. Homage to Irving Penn, which is released today, will have an extremely limited print run: Only 90 books were printed, and the 90th has already been given to Mr. Penn.
