WWD reports that the Valentino Group has bought a 45 percent stake in Proenza Schouler. For the young designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, the new arrangement means a "security net" and a "strategic partner" in Italy’s factories and fabric mills. For Valentino, it "can bring something significant in terms of image." As for whether or not the boys will take over the design reins when Valentino eventually retires, only time will tell. The 75-year-old is said to be negotiating a new three year contract.
