Animal prints are as reliable an indication of fall as the leaves changing color or the days getting shorter. But designers have taken a different approach to the look this season, one with a little more depth and a lot more subtlety. Instead of the usual print, they’ve elected to emboss exotic skin patterns on unlikely materials such as satin, suede, patent leather, and gold. It’s a refined way to add a bit of texture to what’s shaping up to be an opulent autumn.
