Piano

Moss, the famed New York design emporium, is known for its beautifully curated objects, so it’s no surprise that the opening of the brand’s first L.A. branch drew a stylish crowd. Everyone from Molly Sims to Jeremy Scott flocked to Melrose Avenue to congratulate Murray Moss. “L.A. is my favorite city in the world,” said the man of the hour. “It’s so glamorous here.” The 3,500-plus-square-foot space will stock primarily studio works and limited-edition pieces by designers such as the Campana brothers, Georg Baldele, and Tord Boontje. When asked what his favorite item in the store was, Moss motioned to the artfully charred baby grand piano that its creator, 29-year-old Maarten Baas, was playing nearby. “His fire-sculpted Steinway is a metamorphosis,” Moss said. In case you’re in the market, the instrument in question is priced at $155,000.
