the naked truth

While you might shop religiously at Whole Foods, filling your beauty cabinet has often required a less organic, chemical compromise. “The natural beauty industry is still like health food stores before Whole Foods,” says Bryan Meehan, the man who helped Britain embrace organic food with his Fresh & Wild stores. “You have worthy packaging, predictable smells, and homespun formulas that don’t inspire much confidence.” After research and brainstorming chats with his pal and co-investor Ali Hewson, Nude—which is Edun spelled backwards—an all-natural skincare line, was born. Packed with responsibly sourced ingredients such as the hyper-moisturizing Brazilian cupuaçu fruit, Nude has attracted a strong following since its U.K. launch earlier this summer. Christy Turlington Burns, Helena Christensen, and Bono (naturally) are fans. “Ali’s been raving about the miracle mask,” says Meehan. “It’s quite a hit in their house.” Nude launches next month at Barneys New York and is available online at www.nudeskincare.com.—Jessica Ramakrishnan
