Social intelligence

vision quest

New York’s creative crowd headed to The Yard in Brooklyn this weekend—not to be confused with the Yard at the Soho Grand—to help DIY record label The Social Registry celebrate its fourth anniversary. Representing the fashion world were Ben Cho, in a deconstructed tuxedo vest, and the event’s poster designer, Matt Damhave, formerly of Imitation of Christ (which, it was reported last week, his onetime partner Tara Subkoff is trying to sell). When we asked him what he was up to, he filled us in on his latest project, Of the Manor, Of the Manner, an all-encompassing record label/journal/clothing line, which he started with the intention of fostering community among artists. “We’re going around the culture industry,” he said. “I want to make people see what they dream of.” He put on his opaque white sunglasses, whose Japanese design was based on snow blinders. “My field of vision is great.”
