EASE ON DOWN THE ROAD

September 5, 2007  10:48 am

Diana Broussard’s new Christopher Street store is worth the trip, even if you already have your new fall shoes lined up in a row in your closet. There’s her jewelry—oversize chain links on thick ribbons—of course, but there are also macramé lampshades that she discovered in Vinci, “home of Leonardo” (da Vinci, not DiCaprio), and the walls are full of art, all of which is for sale. Most apropos is a series of “portraits” by photographer Steve Pike. Instead of head shots, he’s photographed the soles of shoes, “all lined and weathered,” said Broussard, “like an old face would be.” At last night’s cocktail party to celebrate the boutique’s grand opening were Lars Nilsson, Jay Alexander, and the Lambertson Truex duo, who open their own shop on Madison Avenue next week.
