girls and film

Notting Hillbillies gathered at Nick Jones’ Electric Cinema last night for the latest of Motorola’s Grand Classics series. Sam Taylor-Wood played host, and her choice, Don’t Look Now, drew a crowd of art scenesters, socialites, and fashionistas, as well as director Nicholas Roeg, whose name generated a round of applause each time it was mentioned. The question on everyone’s lips was, “What film would you choose?” Virginia Bates, true to form, opted for vintage choices: “My Fair Lady for the Cecil Beaton costumes, or perhaps Funny Face for the Givenchy.” Alice Temperley, on the other hand, steered clear of work in her pick. “Definitely a humorous one,” she said. “Something by Monty Python.”
