hey, babe

September 30, 2007  8:36 pm

Day one of Paris fashion week, and if the Rick Owens show is anything to go by, the accessory of the moment is a baby. We’ve seen children at shows before, of course—fashion offspring like Julia Restoin-Roitfeld practically grew up in the front row. But the latest twist on the trend is to carry a babe in arms, as Owens’ commercial director did with his one-year-old daughter. Another baby with a fashion pedigree was model Teri-Ann Frencken’s son, also one, who watched his mother work while perched in his DJ father’s arms. The cheery childhood theme continued after the show, when model Sasha Pivovarova emerged from backstage with her eight-year-old sister. Given the younger Pivovarova’s evident enthusiasm, we wonder if Owens shouldn’t think about expanding into the children’s market.
