Marc Jacobs isn’t taking the sniping he’s been the subject of since starting his Spring ‘08 show two hours late on Monday lying down, reports WWD. In response to remarks like those made by Suzy Menkes (”I would like to murder him with my bare hands and never see another Marc Jacobs show in my entire life”), Jacobs has this to say: “You have a family? OK, well that’s nice, I don’t, and I work. So leave me alone and don’t come to the show next time.” Why do Jacobs fans put up with his near legendary tardiness? His directional designs are one reason, of course, but as Guy Trebay writes in today’s New York Times, he’s also got the most entertaining front row in the business. How can you skip a show that might have anyone from Sally Jessy Raphael to Courtney Love sitting ringside?
