Although overscheduled fashionistas typically approach fashion week’s celebrity clothing line appointments, which are becoming more and more frequent, with dread, editors and fashion fans were duly impressed this week at the St. Regis Hotel, where Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were showing their line The Row. Not just there to offer sound bites, the girls showed up early, answered the front door and the phones, took editors through the collection like pros (”These shirts are made on a lingerie loom, which makes them unbelievably soft,” Ashley would coo, only to be followed up by Mary-Kate’s, “These stretch leather gray pants are the hottest things I’ve seen in a long time”), and were the last to leave. When Ashley missed saying good-bye to one group because she was busy with another editor, she stuck her head out into the hall to shout her delayed farewells before they left the building. A Harvey Nichols rep was overheard being particularly impressed by the collection and its tiny masterminds.
