sweet nothings

Finally, a lingerie designer with a sense of humor. Gentry Lane, the Paris-based designer of Gentry de Paris (and occasional Style File contributor), is hosting an old-fashioned bump-and-grind evening on Wednesday. The highlights: burlesque stars Vienna La Rouge, Tana the Tattooed Lady, and Bettina May, all imported straight from the U.S. of A. Virginie Notte will be exhibiting photos from her new book, Modern Pin-Up, and Nicola Akin and his Stellar Sideburns will provide the music. Oh, and you’ll also be able to buy Lane’s vintage-inspired silk and cashmere confections—they’re just the thing if you decide you want to put on a Dita routine of your own. What did Dorothy Parker say about brevity being the soul of lingerie? Gentry de Paris Burlesque Revue, September 26 at 8 p.m. at Divan du Monde, 75 Rue des Martyrs, Paris.—Nancy MacDonell
