apres le deluge

Shocking as it may sound, not everyone in Paris is happy it’s fashion week. Maria Luisa Poumaillou threw a cocktail party in honor of designer Richard Nicoll at her Rue du Mont Thabor boutique last night, and despite the relatively sedate atmosphere, her upstairs neighbor threw buckets of water on the crowd in the street below. Little damage was done, however, as the shop’s awning caught most of the downpour. And it certainly wasn’t enough to dampen Nicoll’s spirits: The London-based Aussie is the first non-Gallic winner of a prestigious ANDAM (Association Nationale pour le Développement des Arts de la Mode) award, an approximately $73,500 prize backed by L’Oréal Professionnel, Swarovski, and Galeries Lafayette.
