SoCal native Jenni Kayne hasn’t shown her collection during L.A. fashion week in a couple of years, having graduated to the New York schedule, but she was back on the scene last Friday, capping off the shows with a dinner party celebrating the opening of her Beverly Hills store. "We finished everything about 20 minutes ago," claimed the designer, as she greeted guests like Rebecca Gayheart, Alison Lohman, Anthony Kiedis, Jason Bateman, and Ashley Olsen over cocktails. "North Almont Drive is one of my all-time favorite streets. So when I drove past the For Rent sign with my husband about three months ago, we were sure this was it," she said, motioning to the boutique space, which features Kayne’s collection as well as specially created accessories by Tom Binns and vintage Paco Rabanne jewelry. Once the entrée of rocket salad and freshly shaved Parmesan was served, co-host Rachel Zoe swanned in wearing a strapless, floor-length dress from the Jenni Kayne spring/summer ‘08 collection. But not even her late arrival could compete with Mary-Kate Olsen’s entrance; she landed at LAX from London moments before heading to the store, which officially opens its doors today.
