After announcing their partnership at the South by Southwest film and music festival in March, Gen Art and Bioré skincare celebrated the winners of the first annual Uncover/Discover contest last night at New York’s Art Directors Club. Not to be confused with Gen Art’s Fresh Faces in Fashion (the skincare connection is pure coincidence), Uncover/Discover is a collaboration intended to find exceptional female talent in fashion, film, music, and the visual arts. The panel of judges, which included Isabel Toledo, Norma Kamali, and Henri Bendel fashion director Ann Watson, gave top honors to Parsons grad Ardistia Dwiasri, who described her eponymous line as “wearable, but with a lot of twists.” In addition to bragging rights and excellent exposure, Dwiasri gets $20,000 in prize money to go forth and prosper among the fashion elite.
