four for the road

After hinting at a television project she had in the works with Mario Batali in the September issue of W, Gwyneth Paltrow revealed all yesterday at a press conference in Madrid. The pair are making a food- and culture-fueled road trip around Spain that will air next fall on PBS as Spain…on the Road Again. Joining them on their journey will be New York Times food columnist Mark Bittman and Spanish actress and singer Claudia Bassols. The idea is that the men will be fixated on the next meal (and accompanying wine) while the women will bring art, shopping, and nightlife into the mix. Paltrow, whose diet is the subject of ongoing speculation in the press, is holding firm to her vow to eat no jamón. “I haven’t eaten anything with four legs since I was 21 years old,” she said. “I feel strongly about this and so am not planning to eat any beef, pork, or poultry. But I am really looking forward though to eating seafood, tortillas, and paella. I absolutely love paella.”
