monkey business

October 18, 2007  2:24 pm

The delegates for the Congress of the Chinese Communist Party aren’t the only out-of-towners in Beijing this week. Gathered for the first-ever fashion show on the Great Wall of China, to be staged by Fendi, are Thandie Newton, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Amanda Hearst, and Kate Bosworth and her beau, model James Rousseau. To welcome guests newly arrived from Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and New York (minus Tinsley Mortimer and Fabiola Beracasa, who missed yesterday morning’s flight from Newark), company president Gianluca Flore hosted a dinner at the city’s Whampoa Club. As she was reading the menu aloud, Bosworth noticed that monkey brain was one of the items on offer. While the actress seemed relieved to learn that the exotic-sounding dish is a type of mushroom, Rousseau, she said, “was ready to dig in!”
