white now

Anne Fontaine (a.k.a. the queen of the white shirt) has expanded her sphere: The lower level of her Rue St.-Honoré flagship store has been transformed into a luxury day spa. Designed by Andrée Putman in her signature restrained-elegance style, it’s as sleekly chic as a crisp button-down. In fact, Putnam has incorporated Fontaine’s signature snowy fabrics into the design, covering the doors with white chiffon and lining the walls with whitewashed linen. Gray and black marble walls complete the soothing palette. The only exception to the neutral hues is found in the treatment rooms, where different colored lights are used depending on what type of massage you have (Fontaine is a big believer in light therapy). We like the tell-it-like-it-is I’m Depressed package, which includes a facial, an exfoliating scrub, some time in the steam room, and a relaxing massage. You leave feeling squeaky clean, in body and soul. And how often does that happen after a fashion encounter?
