Social intelligence

a new york state of mind

November 14, 2007  6:33 pm

Fresh off hosting duties for a Reed Krakoff fete last Tuesday and master of ceremonies responsibilities at the opening of “Nancy Reagan: A First Lady’s Style” at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, last Thursday, Diane von Furstenberg was at it again last night, giving a dinner party at her Fourteenth Street headquarters for Valentino. After her husband Barry Diller took the floor to toast the designer and his 45th anniversary in business one more time with feeling, Valentino’s business partner Giancarlo Giacometti’s offered this reply: “Thank you for giving us a job.” It left some in the crowd, which included Margherita Missoni, Lauren duPont, and Jennifer Creel, scratching their well-coiffed heads. Did Diller sign them up for a session on his Home Shopping Network? One thing’s for sure, though: The Italian duo is enjoying their time in New York. It was revealed that they’re spending Thanksgiving in the Big Apple.
