A New York institution since 1940, Kentshire Galleries on 12th Street is every Anglophile-in-the-know’s place to snag an English antique (fans of its collection of Victorian and Edwardian jewels, like this 1840s bracelet, above, know to head uptown to Bergdorf Goodman). But beginning today, when Kentshire opens its third outpost—this one on Madison Avenue—you’ll be able to see all of its treasures under one roof. Why do we care? Because ever since former stylist Carrie Imberman decided to join the family business, it’s been doing a brisk trade with fashion types like her pal Chloë Sevigny, who’s hosting the new shop’s opening-night party this evening. “I’ve always loved the beauty and uniqueness of antique jewelry—and Carrie and I are old friends, so now that I’m a Kentshire client I was delighted to help out,” she told us. Imberman, for her part, is excited but wary about the venture. “As we are a family business, I expect this experience will keep us all in therapy for the rest of our natural lives,” she said. “Thankfully, some of the rooms at our new salon have padded upholstery.”
