Marc Jacobs’ first Parisian boutique re-established the sleepy Palais-Royal’s eighteenth-century arcades as a luxury shopping mecca, a change in status that was confirmed when Rick Owens opened his own shop there a few months later. Now this very desirable (and very expensive) chunk of real estate is apparently being eyed by two more big names: Gucci and Ralph Lauren. Our inside source reports that Gucci is far along in negotiations to take over the Prince Jardinier’s spacious boutique, while Ralph Lauren is looking to move into a two-story space currently occupied by a restaurant.
