With eco-chic trumping all trends, we’ve been hearing a lot of talk about how “green is the new black.” But as any educated environmentalist will tell you, black—as in oil—is the color we should actually be focusing on. Unless we find a way to cut down on our use of fossil fuels, we’ll never achieve a greener future. “Fusion Now!: More Light, More Power, More People” at London’s Rokeby gallery has brought artists together with leading social and scientific commentators to propose ideas for promoting nuclear fusion as an energy alternative, a solution not often heard about in the public debate on the topic. Given the contributions from 2006 Turner Prize nominee Mark Titchner, 2002 Turner Prize veteran Liam Gillick, and others, “Fusion Now!” could put nukes in a whole new light.
