“I’m doing this for no other reason than wanting to share with my friends a designer that I truly love,” said Eleanor Ylvisaker of the Jens Laugesen trunk show that she hosted with Ferebee Bishop Taube on Tuesday. “I ordered a few pieces from his Fall collection and each time I wore the dress, skirt, or top, both friends and strangers tracked me down the next day to find out where they can buy them.” Last night Shoshanna Gruss, Charlotte Ronson, Bonnie Morrison, Ali Wise, and Rebekah McCabe needed to look no further than a Soho apartment, where the designer’s black-and-white dresses and separates were for sale at a Friends of Eleanor price. “I love New York,” said the London-based Laugesen, as he watched the girls shop. “It has a great energy about it—so any reason is a good one to come!” He might want to get used to the transatlantic flight. While here, he’s meeting with several retail outlets, and if they’re as impressed as Ylvisaker and Taube, it looks like he’ll be coming back more often. “That way,” said Ylvisaker, “I can stop being his New York shopgirl.”
