To celebrate the opening of Hilfiger Denim in Soho last night, Tommy Hilfiger tapped an iconic DJ for the occasion: Marky Ramone. “I’ve known Tommy and Andy for 23 years,” said Ramone between blasting tracks by Michael Jackson, James Brown, and, of course, his own group. “I was in a band with Andy and the three of us always liked the same music and the same style of clothing. The Ramones were always jeans, sneakers, and leather jackets.” Guests including Ann Dexter-Jones rocked out to a performance by NYC band Cobra Starship and appreciated the decor—especially the stunning image-casting LED chandelier. But the topic of the night was denim. Ramone weighed in. “I like black, skin-tight jeans. Even blue ones.” Surveying some of the hip-hoppers in the room, he added, “I don’t like the baggy look. I never did.”
