holiday shopping event

December 18, 2007  4:49 pm

Clubmonaco

Still not done with your Christmas shopping? One feel-good way to check off those last few names is the holiday shopping event actress Kate Mara is hosting at Club Monaco on West 57 Street in Manhattan tomorrow. Merchandise will be 15 percent off, and the evening benefits Faces of Kibera, a charity Mara’s sister Tricia founded to help children at the Kenyan orphanage she worked at. “It was so moving to see all the pictures she took of the children and hear all the stories they shared. They became very important in her life, and therefore extremely important in mine,” Mara says. “We speak with a few of them (a young girl named Cynthia in particular) regularly and it just puts things into perspective.” Aid for orphans and well-priced cashmere—what have you got to lose?
