Despite the unforgiving lighting at the party to open his new store last night, Michael Kors was relaxed. We spotted him gossiping with Hamish Bowles near the register-cum-bar, while nearby, Andrew Saffir and Daniel Benedict discussed winter plans with Mary Alice Stephenson. But it was just the calm before the storm. At around 8:30 p.m., a panic set over the crowd: Who was doing what next? Kors had a dinner at Raoul’s, which most at the store attended along with some additional VIPs. But some, like Fabiola Beracasa and Stephenson, could only stay at Raoul’s for a drink; Beracasa’s mother, Veronica Hearst, and Margherita Missoni spent their Monday night at the Harper’s Bazaar party, which included a surprise performance by Stevie Wonder. In the East Village, Tara Subkoff celebrated her birthday with Kate Hudson, Alek Wek, and Ali Wise chez Annabel Mehran, who served up a home-cooked meal. But the most unusual post-Kors entertainment was provided by Paper’s Mickey Boardman and Nylon’s Dani Stahl, who joined Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz and Ali Hilfiger as guest judges at a karaoke contest at the L.E.S. bar Angels and Kings. Truly a busy night in fashiondom.
