The chandeliers were not the only things glittering and glowing at the Swarovski Light Sock unveiling on Thursday night: Old-school art matrons and bright young things alike were dripping with jewels. Nadia Swarovski opted for a Swarovski Atelier necklace by Christopher Kane (she was also, despite her pregnancy, wearing high heels and Pucci leggings). When asked why she selected Diller Scofidio + Renfro for this project, Swarovski said, “We’ve been watching their work for quite some time and were curious to see how they would use our product.” The result? Mounds of sparkling crystals dripping from the ceiling in a fishnetlike binding. Charles Renfro, who is currently revamping Lincoln Center, slyly described them as a bit man and a bit woman, represented by two bulbous dangling forms. We’ll leave it to the beholder to determine the gender.
