London-based designer Julia Clancey hasn’t had any formal fashion training, but you’d never guess it by looking at the intricately embroidered, draped dresses she’s been turning out of her studio for the past four years. Clancey’s frocks, which feature showstopping elements like pagoda sleeves hand-embroidered with hundreds of Swarovski crystals, have traveled down European red carpets on the backs of Victoria Beckham and Dita Von Teese. No photo ops on your agenda? No worries: The former music-video stylist plans to roll out a collection of tunic-length blouses that double as minidresses, with prices starting at $500. There’s just one catch: Clancey’s sartorial offerings are only available across the Atlantic at Harrods and Coco Ribbon, among other shops. For now, anyway.
