gold rush

All that glitters was indeed gold last night, just not of the white variety. Luxury jeweler Dominique Cohen, who uses only rose and yellow hues in her designs, celebrated the opening of her new Madison Avenue boutique Wednesday along with hosts Gillian Hearst-Shaw and Cristina Greeven Cuomo and guests CeCe Cord, Lydia Fenet, and Carrie Cloud. Partygoers gathered in the cozy, minimalist space, and more than a few were spied decked out in Cohen’s signature handcrafted gold chains. All eyes weren’t just on the baubles though—guests were treated to a preview of the designer’s latest venture: handbags. “We were working on it for about two years,” Cohen told us. “It definitely seemed like a natural progression.” Expect the same interlocking gold hardware (rose and yellow, natch) and rich, textural detail found in her coveted necklaces, rings, and bracelets. So what kind of ensemble best complements Cohen’s designs? “Now it’s really less about the outfit,” explained Cohen, “and more about the accessories: great shoes, great handbag, great jewelry.” Sounds good.
