Buckler

There are fashion groupies, and there are rock groupies, but it’s safe to say that rarely, if ever, do the twain meet. Last night’s opening of the Buckler menswear shop in Soho was the exception proving the rule: Style scene It band Rock & Roll capped the party by playing a set so loud you could hear guitar licks more than a block down Grand Street. Inside the store, a bevy of PYTs could be found braving the decibels and shaking their groove things for the benefit of the boys onstage. After posing for Karl Lagerfeld—who shot the cover of Rock & Roll’s most recent EP, “Losers, Boozers, Jacuzzi Users”—and starring in Cavalli’s latest menswear campaign, surely the Paris-based band has grown accustomed to the adoring attentions of the “fashion whores,” to summon lead singer Gricha Berekachvili’s memorable shout-out to the crowd. “Eh, yes and no,” commented drummer Paul Louis Viguier, casting a wary eye at the blonde pawing guitarist Matthias Cadéac d’Arbaud. (The same Matthias, it must be noted, is rumored to have swept Lauren Conrad off her feet last month.) “It’s different to play an event like this,” Viguier explained, “because you have to assume everyone is there to drink free Champagne and check out each other’s outfits.” Well, d’Arbaud might have objected, not quite everyone. Fashion whores can get their next Rock & Roll fix in March, when they appear on an episode of “The Hills.”
