Michalsky

The legging trend is going strong in Berlin. Long shiny stems stalked almost all the catwalks during the first two days of the city’s fashion week, but none were as sharp and seductive as the thin leather twig- and moss-colored leggings seen in Michalsky’s super-slick show last night. Known as the Alexander McQueen of Berlin, Michael Michalsky is a bear of a man beloved for his big vices and polished designs. The floating sixties-style red chiffon halter dresses and sculpted jackets he sent down the catwalk at the Gemäldegalerie am Kulturforum were homages to his love of classic America tailoring. But the leather leggings suggested that he was keeping one foot in the realm of the night. Who wouldn’t want to straddle two worlds wearing them?
