Sunglasses

Start the new year with a clean slate: Streamline your accessories. We suggest Slow and Steady Wins the Race’s latest projects (numbers 15 and 16, if you’re keeping count), shoes and sunglasses. In keeping with designer Mary Ping’s stripped-down philosophy—”It’s a playful commentary on the fundamentals of clothing design”—each item uses only details that are integral to its basic concept to make a statement. So no rhinestones on the shades, though Ping does experiment with a foldable frame by adding a hinge in the middle, and her white canvas pump sports a decorative heel on the toe. The keep-it-simple approach is working out: Ping’s taking a break from designing her eponymous collection to focus on Slow and Steady. For more information, see www.slowandsteadywinstherace.com.
