spreading the word
Further evidence that luxury consumption and fashion consciousness are moving ever eastward: Alef Magazine and Villa Moda, two of the Middle East’s most style-conscious brands, have announced a joint partnership to open a series of arts-and-culture-oriented bookshops across the region. Alef Books, as the stores will be known, are aiming to be the 10 Corso Como of the Arab world, with an emphasis on what Alef publisher Paul de Zwart calls “a handpicked and targeted inventory of the best art, fashion, photography, design, lifestyle, limited edition, and gift books from the world’s finest design publishers.” The first branch is set to open next month at Villa Moda’s newest location in Fahaheel, Kuwait; eight more will follow over the course of the year.
