Making a re-appearance on the New York schedule next week are Sass & Bide, who took a two-season sabbatical after co-designer Heidi Middleton gave birth to her second child—and battled breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with just hours after delivering her daughter. While in treatment, she met Kate, another young mother with cancer; Middleton recovered, but Kate didn’t. In homage to Kate, Middleton and her partner, Sarah-Jane Clarke, have dedicated their Fall collection in her memory. “It felt so natural to make this collection a tribute to her,” Middleton said. “Her soul is woven into every piece that we designed. February 2 will be Kate’s show.” The Sydney-based designers have also created a T-shirt, available exclusively at Net-a-Porter.com, to raise money for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. And to further the buzz, Melvin Sokolsky is shooting Cory Kennedy in the shirt today.
