Oscar

The Brazilian line Osklen hosted an intimate gathering last night on the rooftop at Fasano, Rio’s chicest new hotel. It was the first major event for the five-month-old hot spot, in a location that is usually reserved for guests only. But an exception was made for Oskar Metsavaht, Osklen’s designer. When deciding where to hold the confab for international journalists and local friends, he told us there was no second choice. “I come here for dinner all the time. I had a drinks event for Hamish Bowles of Vogue at the Londra bar recently. It’s great.” As Metsavaht relayed the story to us, Mario Testino emerged from the elevator to take a sunset dip in the rooftop pool. Over the Christmas holidays, the Fasano was teeming with Santo Domingos and other socially prominent names. Throw in the panoramic views of Ipanema, and it’s become our hotel of choice in Rio.
