a day in the life of: chance yeh, party photographer

2 p.m.
Wake up. I went to bed at 7 a.m. after doing imaging from the Baby Phat and Rag & Bone shows. Imaging is when you caption the shots’ contents and resize the images to the standard format that a publication requires.
3 p.m.
Take a shower and get dressed. I check over my photo gear. It weighs about 15 lbs. I grab a quick bite to eat at my local pizza shop.
5 p.m.
Arrive at the Bryant Park tents. I see some familiar faces. This is actually my 18th New York fashion week. I check in with my client, Sass & Bide. Then I set up my gear and start shooting makeup and beauty shots.
7 p.m.
My hired time is up backstage and the show is about to begin. I head to the front row to see if I can get any last-minute celebrity shots. I see a great opportunity to get Nicky Hilton sitting with Katrina Bowden from 30 Rock, but the IMG staff leader says no. I leave without watching the show. My personal opinion is, you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all.
8 p.m.
Get home, charge up my batteries, and prep my gear for the party later tonight.
10 p.m.
Arrive at the nightclub 1 Oak for the Rock & Republic after-party. I spend the next four hours shooting celebs like Jaime King, Gary Bourdain, Sophia Bush, Natasha Henstridge, Tyson Beckford, and Lydia Hearst making their way down the “noir carpet.” The club management won’t allow cameras inside, so after I’m done shooting I go in as a guest and just relax.
4 a.m.
Take a cab home and immediately start downloading the after-party images. Post-production is the most tedious part of my job.
7 a.m.
Finish transmitting the last of the images to the office. Go to bed.
