9 a.m.
Wake up late. I’m fighting off a cold and need as much rest as I can get this week. Drink a quick cup of green tea and grab some fruit to snack on later. First things first: I have to go vote!
11 a.m.
My first appointment of the day is at the Findings showroom in midtown. I’m here to see the Etoile collection by Isabel Marant from Paris. It’s one of the best-selling lines at Bird and one of my absolute favorites. I love the fur-trimmed parka, and I wish I had every printed silk dress in my closet already.
2 p.m.
Catch the 1 train down to the Altman Building for the Karen Walker show. Karen does not disappoint. Pretty pintuck dresses, Edwardian jackets, oversized sunglasses and amazing chunky crochet bangles. I especially love the cobalt-blue wool flannel shrunken coat and the thick opaque tights with bright, contrasting shoes.
3 p.m.
Walk over to my favorite restaurant, Souen, for a late lunch. I am totally addicted to their scones but, sadly, they are already sold out.
4 p.m.
Arrive at Soho House to see the men’s and women’s collections from London’s Y.M.C. I love the adorable swan intarsia sweaters, the stunning red silk dress, the lace-up boots, and the sneakers. On my way out I make a quick stop at Jeffrey to drool over the new tie-dyed gladiator sandals from Balenciaga. I settle for a new Nars lip gloss instead.
6 p.m.
Catch the Behnaz Sarafpour show at Exit Art. I run into my friend Kristina O’Neill from Harper’s Bazaar. We confirm our karaoke date for her birthday next week. The show looks amazing! I love the organic wool hand-knits, the leaf appliqués, the silver pleat-front dress and the crazy long-hair goat jackets.
7 p.m.
Hail a taxi and head back downtown with Nancy from LCD Soundsystem, who just got off the plane from Australia. We meet my husband at Florent for an early dinner of burgers and Champagne. We skip dessert and head around the corner to the Highline Ballroom to catch a quick concert by Swedish pop singer Robyn.
10 p.m.
Exhausted, I fall into a cab back to Carroll Gardens to watch the election returns. Fall 2008 will hopefully see a lot of change, and not just in fashion.
