Monday, February 4
6:30 a.m.
Crawl out of bed. Get dressed for a 7 a.m. yoga class. It helps to get “centered” at the start of the day.
9 a.m.
Arrive at my friend Peter Som’s show. I chat with Roopal Patel from Bergdorf’s. If I do say so myself, she always looks chic when she’s carrying one of my bags.
9:45 a.m.
The show starts late, but it was worth the wait. The last time we had dinner, Peter mentioned that he was going “all out” with this particular collection, referencing everything from Diane Arbus photographs to “Mad Men” (our latest TV series obsession). The result was romantic, eclectic, quirky, and definitely mad, mad, mad! I can’t wait to see what he does for Bill Blass on Thursday.
11:30 a.m.
After grabbing a late breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien, I meet with my design team. We’re furiously trying to figure out the collection for Resort ‘08. We’re almost finished, but I obsess over the details, as usual.
3 p.m.
Run over to L’Olivier to decide what floral arrangements we should have for our showroom. It’s market week for us, and we have nonstop appointments starting tomorrow. I think fresh flowers always put people in a good mood. We opt for rare green orchids.
6 p.m.
Rush to the Upper East Side to catch the Chris Benz show at the Lotos Club. I loved the “tableau vivant” format. The collection is all very geek chic with a bit of “jeune fille” stealing from her “grandmère.” Pardon my French, but Benz was inspired by Parisian ladies this season. At the show, I bump into some Japanese fashion editors that I know.
7:30 p.m.
Go for cocktails at the Carlyle with the Japanese editors. It’s good to take a break and gossip a bit. We talk about the shows, of course. Afterward, I head down to meet friends for dinner at my new favorite restaurant, Zampa, in the West Village.
11 p.m.
Make a brief stop at the new nightclub 1 Oak for Catherine Malandrino’s after-party. The dimly lit venue is the perfect setting to celebrate her rich Fall collection. I quickly make the rounds before calling it a night—I have to catch some rest before tomorrow’s 9 a.m. Tibi show.
