birthdays all around

Chances are, if you weren’t hobnobbing with the Vogue folk at the Gagosian Gallery last night, you were celebrating somebody’s birthday. That’s because Wednesday saw not one, not two, but three fashionable folks’ birthday festivities: girl-about-town Genevieve Jones, Calvin Klein’s celebrity and VIP services director Lauryn Flynn, and the Colombian finance guy Alejandro Santo Domingo. Jones, seen here with Byrdie Bell, decided that afternoon to blow some cash on caviar and Champagne and have pals like Benjamin Cho, Jen Brill, stylist Mel Ottenberg, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and her man candy Magnus Berger, Vogue’s Valerie Boster, and some of the Asfour kids over to her Soho pad. “Spur-of-the-moment parties are the best,” she said. “An hour ago, I was still shoving the furniture around and redoing the house for that perfect party vibe.” Flynn’s affair was a tad more organized: She had been planning on turning a friend’s town house into a multi-story clubhouse for her pro athlete pals like Rangers Sean Avery and Colton Orr for weeks. “I think this is the last one,” Flynn, who’s had a few birthday parties—including a raucous night at Sway with Catherine Keener on Sunday—in recent days, told us. “People will stop coming to celebrate my birthday if I do another one.” And finally, after dinner at La Esquina, Santo Domingo had the most gilded turnout. (Not that gilded is hard at GoldBar.) His brother Andres and recently appointed sister-in-law Lauren Santo Domingo were there, as were Mary-Kate Olsen, Topper and Tinsley Mortimer, Amanda Hearst, and Margherita Missoni. “What a night,” said Missoni, who had swung by the Vogue party to pick up a RED shirt Damien Hirst had personalized for the fashion heiress. “If I see another piece of birthday cake, I’m going to explode.”
