Designer update

Lebook

Narciso Rodriguez may not necessarily spring to mind as a quintessentially American designer, but for the publishers of the fashion industry bible known simply as “Le Book,” he was an obvious choice. “He blends art, fashion, and an architectural eye,” says international development director Michael Kazam, who together with his creative team selected fabric collages and embroideries from the designer’s archives for the 2008 NY edition’s front and back covers. And although Rodriguez, who breaks tradition by being the first American designer to have worked with “Le Book” (past collaborators include Azzedine Alaïa, Karl Lagerfeld, and Yohji Yamamoto), is hardly one to judge a book by its cover, he swears, “You can literally spend hours going through this. It’s like some unique reference book that reads like a great magazine.” The latest edition of “Le Book” is available at www.lebook.com.
