double fantasy

If the track titles “Sexual Sportswear” and “Fingers of Steel” don’t ignite intrigue, then the combination of eighties electro melodies and synth sounds on French singer Sebastien Tellier’s new CD—an “exploration of sexual fantasies” subtly titled “Sexuality”—may well do the job. Or there’s the fact that the album, which was produced by Daft Punk member Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, will make its debut this week in Paris via not one but two launch parties (the first is tonight). Either way, we’re predicting it will prompt some heavy breathing. “My favorite song is ‘Divine,’” Tellier told us. “Just because I believe it really represents my vision of perfection: something that is both superficial and profound rolled into one.” Body parts and a rhythmic ode to the art of lovemaking may be the order of the day on this recording, but when we quizzed the singer-songwriter about his ultimate turn-on, he responded, “A long game of chess.” Nice.
