Danish fashion maverick Stine Goya, who presented her debut collection to widespread acclaim in Paris last year, loves subverting expectations. She’s worked as a model, magazine editor, and stylist and likes nothing better than using her insider’s knowledge of the fashion world to playfully defy its conventions and sidestep its norms. Her surrealist-inspired Fall 2008 show at the Danish Radio Concert Hall, part of Copenhagen fashion week (which ends today), played right along with this theme. The press and sundry
Stine Goya acolytes were seated on the stage, looking out over the tiered seats of the concert hall, while the models stomped through the aisles, through the rows of chairs, and across the balconies clad in textured
metallic dresses. Mirrored silver and gold pendant necklaces underscored the theme of looking and being seen, as did black and white silk trapeze dresses printed with eyes and dreamy landscapes. Seeing is believing.
