get on the bus

February 14, 2008  9:48 am

“This is the first time I haven’t cared about traffic,” said one fashion journalist as she settled into her seat on the Moët Bus—essentially a nightclub on wheels—as it cruised through London yesterday. “All this Champagne, disco balls, great music…what else could you want, except for a loo?” Aware that getting from the tony west to the gritty east is not the easiest journey in the city’s perpetual traffic snarl and cab shortage, Moët & Chandon arranged for a bus to ferry a group of fashion VIPS from Kensington to the East End yesterday for shows by Richard Nicoll, House of Holland, Roksanda Illincic, and Giles, throwing a mini-tour in for good measure (”and here is Brick Lane, there is the Truman Brewery, here is Hoxton…”). The bus tour was scheduled to end in the Moët Block Party, one of the hottest tickets in town. As another passenger put it, “It’s only 3:30 and I have a Champagne buzz already. I really hope at the end of the night, the bus will bring us back!”
