When a handbag is stolen from your first-ever presentation for a line, right out from under the noses of a clutch of PR people, security guards, and journalists, you can safely assume you’ve come up with some pretty irresistible stuff. That’s what happened at Stuart Vevers’ debut at Loewe earlier this week, when someone snatched a pink python tote from the plastic arm of a spotlit mannequin and walked away with it undetected. “Yes, it was nicked,” confirmed the label’s publicist. “And we still don’t know who did it.” We’ll be watching eBay for pink snakeskin.
