"Simon [LeBon] likes models," said Justin Timberlake. The scene was the private launch party for the William Rast Fall 2008 collection, held at Johan Lindeberg’s West Village apartment. The Duran Duran frontman, however, didn’t want to be pigeonholed. "I like girls. The boys are pretty good-looking, too!" he told us. Though primarily a menswear line, William Rast, which was founded by Timberlake and his childhood friend Trace Ayala, has produced women’s denim before. But for the upcoming season the two partnered with Johan and Marcella Lindeberg and added women’s sportswear—short, preppy skirts in navy and black with a "W" insignia, wide tan belts, and slim vests—designed by the couple. Timberlake himself was wearing a black Ann Demeulemeester scarf and a leather jacket. We asked him about the music video in which Madonna reportedly whips him. He laughed. "I’d kick her ass if she wanted to whip me. The video is called ‘Four Minutes to Save the World,’ and we’re racing against the world." That settles it.
