madonna’s oscar dress?

Jean Yu, a former CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist, tells us that Madonna will wear this dress to Sunday night’s Oscar festivities. Usually designers cross their fingers and hold their breath until they see celebrities working the red carpet in their creation on E! before sending out their e-mail blasts. So what makes Yu so confident? “Madonna’s stylist Arianne Phillips came into the store last week prepping for a Vanity Fair shoot; that’s how she came across the dress.” The Material Girl has never worn Yu before, but she’s just the kind of designer the trend-setter likes—someone who operates slightly under the radar but who has a killer sense of cut. Remember how Madge made the then-unknown Olivier Theyskens’ reputation way back in 1998 when she wore his goth hook-and-eye vest dress to the Academy Awards? Stay tuned.
