Last night’s heaving Mulberry festivities on New Bond Street (that would be the store with the two-block-long queue outside of it) made it official: Mulberry’s events are to London fashion week what Vanity Fair’s bash is to the Oscars (or usually is, anyway)—THE party to attend. “I love it! It’s so fantastic,” said Jonathan Kelsey, the label’s new shoe designer. “I want it to go on forever.” By “it” he meant being crushed by the crowd, but at least it was an A-list one: Erin O’Connor, the Stewart girls, Kelly Osbourne, Lily Allen, author Zadie Smith, actress Amara Karan, and Otis Ferry gathered around as beefy boy waiters in polyester gym gear (very Richard Simmons in the eighties) offered up fruity drinks. “They closed the guest list five days ago,” said Caroline Lucey of Fashion Monitor. “It’s a miracle half of us are here.”
