when push comes to shove

Given that the writers strike has all but shut down Hollywood, local thesps Maggie Gyllenhaal and Julianne Moore have a better-than-decent excuse to stay local this awards season and catch the fashion on the runway rather than the red carpet. Both ladies made it out for last night’s lovely Sari Gueron show at the Prince George Ballroom—as did Barbara Bush the Younger, by the way—and after the show had concluded, Moore could be found among the backstage huddle singing “Happy Birthday” to the show’s stylist, Leslie Fremar. “It has been a good birthday!” Fremar exclaimed. “The show was amazing, right? I’m such a fan of Sari’s, we have such a similar personal aesthetic, it was really a pleasure to work with her, finally. I know I really pushed her this season,” Fremar added, “but I hope she doesn’t mind. I just wanted her to embrace the drama of the collection.” As for the designer, Gueron clearly isn’t harboring any hard feelings. “I’m going out to dinner with Leslie, and then we’re headed out for more celebrating,” she said of her postshow plans. “I’m looking forward to a good, long night—and then a good, long rest.”
